Pros, especially those covering weddings and events, will reach for an 24-70mm F2.8. If you prefer a bit more lens, you can reach for an F4 zoom. Nikon AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Review
Many reviewers criticized the lens heavily for its performance, claiming it to be a soft lens when compared to its predecessor, the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8G. And some even put it as the winner in the âworst lens release of 2015â category. Did Nikon engineers really screw up in updating one of the most popular pro-grade lenses?

When compared to its predecessor and its main competitor the new lens shows the best FX-corner of the bunch. And at the shorter focal lengths by a large margin!
It has a fast maximum aperture of f/2.8, making it great for low light photography. It also has Canonâs latest optical technology for sharpness and reduced distortion. Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR Lens: This Nikon lens is a great option for those who want excellent image quality with fast autofocus.

In this comparison weâve tested the Sony against the equivalent Canon and Nikon rival models. Weâve chosen the higher resolution 50-Mpix Canon EOS 5DS R to highlight the potential of the Canon combination, but even when tested on the lower 22-Mpix resolution Canon EOS 5D Mark III, the EF 24-70mm F2.8L II still achieves peak sharpness levels similar to the Sony.

Canon's RF f2.8L lenses are only as expensive as Nikon's Z lenses. 100 more 100 less. Only unique Canon RF lenses like 50mm f1.2 and 28-70mm f2.0 are expensive but they don't have a rival in the market yet. Plus, Canon 35mm f1.8, 85mm f2.0 and 24-105mm f4-7.1 lenses are quite inexpensive. I think Nikon wins on body prices today, not lens prices.
Considerably more compact and lightweight than the latest Nikon AF-S 24-70mm lens and at only half the purchase price, itâs a good choice if you donât need the faster f/2.8 aperture. Read our full Nikon AF-S 24-120mm f/4G ED VR review for more details
